MCC Athletics hosted the 50th Tiger Days Golf Outing at the Legion Golf Course on Thursday September 7th. The golf outing serves as the athletic programs largest fundraiser of the year and proceeds go to athletic scholarships. The 50th Tiger Days consisted of lunch, four man best ball, raffle prizes, and a dinner. MCC Athletic Director Dr. Kathleen Brown commented on the event stating, "Tiger Days is an awesome annual event where we get to see our supporters/donors interact with our student athletes in different capacities on the golf course. This year was no different with a great field of golfers, awesome title and hole sponsors, great food, and beautiful weather. "
The MCC Athletic Department would like to thank Emerson for their Hall of Fame sponsorship as well as Independent Insurance, H & F Distributing, and Shomo Madsen Insurance for their All American sponsorship. Great Western Dining catered the event and was an All-Region sponsor along with JBS who donated pork loins for raffle prizes. Each golfer also received a golf towel provided by Tiger Hawk Consulting and a Tiger Days shirt provided by MCC Admissions.
"Our Athletic Department is heavily reliant on the financial support of donors in order for us to be able to provide athletics scholarships to our student-athletes. We could never say enough in terms of appreciation for our supporters whose donation allows some of our student-athletes to attend school and compete for MCC when they otherwise would not have had the chance, "stated Brown following the event.
MCC athletics would also like thank the hole sponsors for their donation. McFarland Clinic, the Fairall Family, Dave Engle, the Marshalltown Chamber, Great Western Bank, US Cellular, McDonalds, Jerry & Robin Lilienthal, MCC Faculty and Staff, State Farm, Rich & Margie Brown, B&G HVAC, Tom McCoy, Nick Harvey and Family, and Kathleen Brown as they all donated as hole sponsors for the event.
After golf had concluded, the golfers gathered at the Legion for a meal and raffle prizes. The raffle prizes we donated by Al Parks, Art and Frame on Main, Blank Park Zoo, Chris Brodin, Farmers Savings Bank, Henry Doorly Zoo, Hy-Vee, the Iowa Barnstormers, the Iowa Wild, Josh Hoglan, Kelley Fairall – Fifer, the MCC Bookstore, Sky Zone, Terrace Hills Golf Course, and Toad Valley Golf Course.
Golfers that participated in the event represented many local businesses including two teams from Emerson, Shomo Madsen, and Sandvick Enterprises. Other teams include Independent Insurance, Capital Sanitation, JBS, Coldwell Banker, the Times Republican, B&G HVAC, H&F, Gethmann Construction, and Mechdyn. Also a special thank you to Gary Schaudt, Fairall-Fifer family, Iowa Valley Community College Distract, MCC Staff and the Legion Golf Course for participating. We are also very grateful for Josh and Pam at the Legion for going above and beyond as the hosts for the event.
The Tiger are back in action this week as the Men's Soccer team travel to Mason City to take on the Trojans of North Iowa Area Community College, the MCC volleyball team is set to take on William Penn JV Sunday September 10 at 1:00 PM in the Student Activity Center on the Marshalltown Community College campus.
