The MCC men's basketball team traveled to Iowa Falls, Iowa Wednesday night to take on the 10-3 Panthers of Ellsworth Community College. The Tigers lost to the Panthers 72-68 early in the season in the Student Activity Center on the Marshalltown Community College campus.
Mohamed Thiam would yet again record a double double dropping 17 points while grabbing 10 rebounds. Kelton Edwards would come off the bench and lead the Tigers in scoring with 19 points going 7-13 from the field and a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line. Eric Ting would also come off the bench as the Tigers got into foul trouble early, and he would be the spark the Tigers needed to come out with the victory. Ting made multiple plays down the stretch that helped the Tigers extend their lead recording five critical assist while grabbing two steals.
"Tonight wasn't pretty but it was a great test to our depth," stated Head Coach Brynjar Brynjarsson. "Any time we've got them in the double bonus in the first ten minutes we are going to have to get some big minutes and production from the bench. I thought both Eric and Kelton did a great job off the bench tonight."
The Tigers will be back in action Saturday, January 13 when they travel to Council Bluffs, Iowa to take on the Reivers of Iowa Western. The Reivers are currently 15-2 while averaging 96 points per game. The game can be viewed on the Reiver Sports Network and can be found on www.goreivers.com.
