The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference has announced the Athlete of the Week honors for the week ending on October 7th. Marshalltown CC's freshman libero Halee Pedro has been named Division I Volleyball's Athlete of the Week for Defense. This is the third time this season Pedro has earned this elite honor.
Pedro, who hails from Kailua, Hawaii, continues to excel defensively for the Tiger volleyball squad. Last week, Pedro helped lead the Tigers to another two victories against NIACC and Grand View JV, sweeping all six sets. Pedro currently leads the ICCAC in digs and is sixth overall in the NJCAA for total digs (459). Her consistency also has her in the top 20 nationally in digs per set (5.1). Last week she added 31 digs to her total in six sets, 5.16 per set en route to helping the Tigers improve overall to 25-3.
"Halee continues to be an anchor for us both defensively and in serve receive," Head Coach Justin Hoskins said of Pedro. "I'm happy to see her earn this award and I amd looking forward to her continuing her high level of play as we enter the home stretch of our regular season."
