Bio
Zander Young began his Esports career in 2020 as a competitive player across several teams before stepping into his current role as the Rocket League coach for Marshalltown Community College. With a deep understanding of the game and a passion for mentorship, Zander now guides the next generation of players—offering the insight and support he wished he had during his climb to the top.

As a player, Young  competed in high-level tournaments, secured multiple titles, and even reached world-class rankings. His transition into coaching was driven by a desire to give back to the community and elevate others through strategy, teamwork, and discipline. For Young, Esports is more than just a competition; it’s a community. He has seen firsthand how gaming can bring people together from different backgrounds, spark lifelong friendships, and provide a sense of growth not only as a player but as a person.

A graduate of Hudson High School (Class of 2022), Young quickly earned a certification in cybersecurity—another field he’s deeply passionate about. While technology remains a strong interest, esports has always held a special place in his heart.

During his post-high school years, Young qualified for RLCS Open Regionals, climbed the 3v3 leaderboards, and built his reputation in the competitive Rocket League community. These accomplishments eventually led to his affiliation with Marshalltown Community College, where he now continues to make an impact both on and off the field. His work as a coach extends beyond gameplay mechanics—he emphasizes sportsmanship, communication, and resilience. He believes that success in esports comes from more than raw skill; it comes from creating a culture where players support one another, stay disciplined, and have fun.

Young was born into a lively family of six children, with four sisters–Brianna, Zoe, Maria, and Jessica–and one brother, Zach. His parents, Tony and Cindy, have been true inspirations throughout his life and continue to do so every day. Coming from a big family taught him the importance of teamwork, patience, and finding his own voice.
