Tigers stumble twice on final day of DMACC Tournament

Boone, IA—The Marshalltown Community College Volleyball team concluded the Des Moines Area Community College Tournament with two losses on Saturday, falling 3-0 to both Johnson County Community College and MCC-Longview.
Freshman Jordan Carter (Sigourney, IA/Sigourney) posted a total of 20 kills on the day, including 12 against Johnson County to up her team-high total to 214 on the year, which ranks third in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC). Sophomore Lannie Dubberke (Cambridge, IA/Ballard) registered nine kills in the opening loss to Johnson County, ranked No. 3 in the latest NJCAA Division II poll, and finished the afternoon with four total blocks.
Raini Hilmer (Dysart, IA/Union) recorded 17 assists in the opening match followed by 18 in the loss to MCC-Longview. Rieley Rodman (Ankeny, IA/Grand View Christian) led MCC in the opening match with 11 digs while Paola Toledo (Boca Chica, Dominican Republic/San Rafael) led the second match with 13.
Freshman DaNesha Cowley (Waterloo, IA/Waterloo West) tallied eight total kills while Nicole Montgomery (Beaman, IA/BCLUW) added nine total.
The Tigers finished the weekend 0-4 at the tournament.
MCC heads to Ellsworth Community College for a cross-division matchup on Monday night at 7:00 PM.
