Tigers' season comes to a close in district tournament
The Marshalltown Community College volleyball season came to a close on Friday night as the Tigers dropped a pair of matches in the NJCAA District J Tournament.

Council Bluffs, IA-- The Marshalltown Community College volleyball season came to a close on Friday night as the Tigers dropped a pair of matches in the NJCAA District J Tournament. MCC fell to Indian Hills Community College 3-0 and Vincennes University 3-1.
The third-seeded Tigers faced a major obstacle in second-seeded Indian Hills, ranked No. 6 in the latest NJCAA Division I poll. The Warriors entered the day on a 26-match winning streak and handled MCC in straight sets, 25-18, 25-9, and 25-20.
In the elimination match against fourth-seeded Vincennes, the Tigers fell behind early, dropping the first two sets 25-18 and 25-22 before rallying for a third set victory, 25-20, to keep their season afloat. MCC battled until the end, but dropped the final frame 25-22.
The Tigers finish the year with a 12-22 record, an eight-win improvement from the 2015 season.
Freshman Sara Bisbe (Barcelona, Spain/CV Saint Cugat) posted eight kills and seven digs in the opening loss to Indian Hills while Jordan Carter (Sigourney, IA/Sigourney) added five finishers.
In the nightcap, Bisbe upped her performance with 15 kills to go along with a four service aces. Carter joined Bisbe in double-figures with 13 kills and 15 digs. Sophomore DaNesha Cowley (Waterloo, IA/Waterloo West) posted eight kills for the Tigers.
Paola Toledo (Boca Chica, Dominican Republic/San Rafael) totaled nine kills and a pair of service aces between the two matches. Nicole Montgomery (Beaman, IA/BCLUW) added three blocks assists in the final match.
Sophomore Rieley Rodman (Ankeny, IA/Grand View Christian) closed out her MCC career with 10 digs in each match, giving her 840 throughout her two years at MCC. Freshman Nina Bales (Lacona, IA/Southeast Warren) registered 57 total assists on the day.
