Tigers drop Bryant & Stratton at HCC classic
Freeport, IL—The Marshalltown Community College men’s basketball team bounced back for an 85-68 victory over Bryant & Stratton College (WI) Saturday morning at the 48th annual William R. Bear Classic hosted by Highland Community College.

Bear Classic hosted by Highland Community College. The Tigers advance to the consolation championship game against Iowa Central at 5:00 PM Saturday.
After dropping the opening game of the weekend tournament to Don Bosco Prep on Friday night, the Tigers rebounded with a strong performance against the Bobcats. Mohamed Thiam (Dekar, Senegal/Canarias) led MCC in scoring with a career-high 25 points and Brandon Simmons (Harlem, NY/Teaneck) posted a double-double with 14 points and a team-high 13 rebounds. The sophomore also blocked a career-high six shots in the win.
Jamir Coleman (San Antonio, TX/Pro Vision) poured in 14 points for MCC while Aaron Hauser (Marshalltown, IA/Marshalltown and Souf Mensah (Nantes, France/Canarias) added 10 points each.
MCC shot 49.2 percent from the floor while holding Bryant & Stratton to a 39.4 percent clip. The Tigers once again showed their strength inside with a 48-35 rebounding advantage.
