In a hard-fought match at home, the Marshalltown Community College (MCC) men's soccer team fell 0-1 to Dakota County Technical College (DCTC). Despite the loss, the Tigers showed incredible resilience and dominated possession for most of the game, creating multiple scoring opportunities.
From the opening whistle, the Tigers controlled the game's pace, consistently pressuring the DCTC defense. Tomu Yamaguchi led the team with two shots on goal, while Dominic Capla, Haru Takizawa, Kaisei Noguchi, Enrico Cordeiro Borges, Gustavo De Araujo, and Thomas Mejia each added one.
The only goal of the game came at the 16-minute mark when an unfortunate own goal gave DCTC the lead. The visiting team then focused on a strong defensive effort to maintain their advantage for the rest of the game. Despite three yellow cards, the MCC Tigers continued to battle, but they were unable to find the equalizer.
"The guys played with a lot of heart and intensity," said the MCC Head coach Chris Fuchsen. "It was just one of those days where the ball didn't go our way. We're proud of how we played, and we'll carry this fighting spirit into our next game."
The Tigers will be back in action on Saturday at 3:30 pm at home against Central Community College.
